That, chastisement befalling them is, because they had contended with, they had opposed, Allahu ta’ālā and His Messenger (rasūl): whoever contends with Allahu ta’ālā and with His Messenger (rasūl), surely Allahu ta’ālā is severe in retribution, against him.
